Blog by Gary Lancina

In today's tumultuous economic environment, leaders face unprecedented challenges in maintaining strategic focus while navigating constant change. Recently, I had the opportunity to explore these critical themes with CMG Senior Director Kim Scribner, whose expertise in organizational effectiveness offers valuable perspective for executives at all levels.

A key insight?  Let’s stop using “unprecedented” to describe the challenges we’re facing (and yes, I left the term in my intro sentence for the irony of it all).

Change happens, and as Kim aptly notes, cultivating change management as a core leadership strength is now essential in both for-profit and not-for-profit contexts. When it comes to fight, flight, or freezing in the face of uncertainty, freezing may be the most debilitating option.  Her insights reveal how organizations grappling with volatile environmental factors can make progress despite the noise.

The discussion highlights options for leaders to:

  • Foster team motivation during uncertain periods
  • Execute strategic plans despite external disruptions (think “agile practices”)
  • Build organizational capability to thrive through change

Give a watch below for more detail and Kim's keen insights to help evolve your leadership approach.  I’m sure you’ll find nuggets to help you and your own team.
